End of 2007 December 30, 2007

Everything must be seen from different angles and perspectives or we cannot get a fair picture of it.

I must say that the last year has been a not so good year on the chart of my years. It has confused the hell out of me and right now I am standing at the door of a new year with nothing but pieces left of myself and my previous life. Holding them up. Trying to fit them together but they like me have no will to fit right now.

2007 has been an emotional roller coaster with many dips far below and some really nice highs as well. There are few things I wouldn’t want to be without from this year yet I would not like to go through this year again.

Many times I have wanted to write about how I feel and what has been going on in my life but you just don’t do that.. Why is a questions that can be discussed forever. I am at this stage somewhat weak yet feel clear and sure about where I am heading. My head is constantly full of words, sentences, and phrases all wanting to find their place in the world, their place in a bigger context. In my head places always flash before me. Places that I associate with people or certain events. Life has been to painful this year and now I gladly but also sadly bid 2007 farewell and wish it nothing but well.

I do not wish to meet again.

Happy New Year to all of you and may2008 be a great year in every way. May God bless you (and me as well pleease).

Brits and monkeys December 23, 2007

..I was really seriously depressed yesterday when I called the riding club I was going to and they told me that I was late and that the group already had left. Uuuh. It was still 15 minutes to go according to my time and I hadn’t been told I was going with a group of people. They told me I could come back in an hour if I wanted to go riding later. I was a little ticked off (even if it was probably my confused minds fault). I said ok and then drove around some stables in Saar.

I ended up going to a place called Jazeera Stables and this place really made my day. The friendly owner said I could have a look around and so I did. He had a lot of different animals even if the place wasn’t huge. Dogs, cats, horses, foxes, crocodiles, rabbits, raccoons, peacocks, hens and roosters and other kind of birds, sheep and to top it all of a cheeky monkey jumping around teasing and playing with the largest dog around. There was a small chihuahua and god he was just so cute and friendly (well all the animals were friendly except on of the crocodiles who jumped at me). It really cheered me up being around the animals and I decided I will go back sometime with my two year old daughter. It is sad though to see dogs and cats in cages..not really used to that.

Anyway after that I was supposed to go to a supermarket called uh al Jawad/Jawal or something and I really didn’t have a clue where it was so I ended up calling the riding center a few times until the guy there lost his patience with me saying -Where is your mind lady? How long have you been in Bahrain and so on….. I just told him to cancel it cus I had enough of driving around…

Ended up going to al Osra supermarket in Budaiya and it felt like I was in England again. Even though I miss London it disturbed me greatly being there (in the supermarket) hearing only British accents and Christmas music. Don’t ask me why.

Winter has arrived December 22, 2007

Yesterday I called one a of the riding clubs here and booked a horse to go riding today…Just woke up now (10.30) and it seems first day if winter has arrived. It is 16 degrees which is quite nice only there is no sun which is a shame. It better not start raining cus I am soo going riding today…!!  Even snow would be ok (fat chance) but not rain.

Just read in the Swedish paper “Dagens Nyheter” that the king of Saudi Arabia has pardoned the girl from Qatif (I am guessing most people have heard of the controversial and sick rape case by now).

In Swedish http://www.dn.se/DNet/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=148&a=725567

In English http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7147632.stm

I don’t really care that that King Abdullah think the sentence was right….hamdulillah that she has been pardoned.

The cries of Sanabis December 17, 2007

Cries of Sanabis

Yes well the cries aren’t coming from the people of Sanabis ( or whoever set this on fire -it’s in Sanabis) but from me who sat there in my car with a wicked angle (and no cars behind me) with only my “ok on normal day” but very slow Nokia N73 cam as I caught the fire. Blinded by the sun and asked by the police not to take pictures and move along I cursed my camera (uh phone)… I’m appalled how the pictures turned out. Where the heck are the rest of the policemen?? Grr! We do have another camera but it is time for me to look for a “real” camera. I have been wanting one for a long time but I haven’t figured out which one I want yet.

Soo, all you photographers out there, please help me out. Where do I start in this jungle of digital cameras? I want something that is easy to use still has a good zoom, fast, not too pricey, not too big, not too small ah well a good, reliable camera. And I don’t want this kind of camera http://www.steves-digicams.com/2004_reviews/a95.html but this kind http://www.steves-digicams.com/2006_reviews/nikon_d80.html (ok it doesn’t have to be that big). God look at my amateur talk. I really need to read up on digital cameras.

Please, yalla guide me in the right direction and anyone living here might be able to tell me where one can get the best deals on cameras (please not Geant I already had a fit with them over a laptop)
